Hello
Today's market is for all those who love to sculpt.
The Palm Beach International Sculpture Biennale is to be one of the leading outdoor sculpture competitions in the United States. As we launch this event, it is our vision to create a new and innovative venue for emerging sculptors as well as to feature distinguished artists in this field.
By bringing together emerging and established artists through this showcase, exhibit and series of roundtable discussions, we hope to assist in launching new careers, expanding audiences, and engaging collectors and galleries.
The Sculpture Biennale Competition will result in a 3 day showcase and 60 day exhibit on the 10-acre site of a new and arts complex, The Cultural Campus, South Florida.
Up to 75 artists will be selected by the Curator and Jury Panel to represent the world of outdoor sculpture in this international art event.
THE ARTIST FORUM Selected artists and jurors will be invited to participate in a public artist forum. The evening topics and discussions are to be determined by the curator.
PREVIEW GALA On the eve of the showcase there will be an invitation-only preview gala for selected artists, jurors, and guests on the exhibit site.
SHOWCASE A day showcase will feature selected artists in booths and will be open to prominent gallery owners, collectors, and the general public.
60 DAY INSTALLATION The selected collection will remain on display for 60-days. Guided tours will be given to students and patrons visiting the site.
SALES All works will be made available for purchase during the 60-day exhibit. Pricing will be left at the discretion of the artist.
Sculptors worldwide compete for prestigious awards and the opportunity to have their work reviewed by internationally renowned jurors, artists, collectors, galleries, curators, and press.

This has been the most interesting few days so far and I am left to wonder what might happen next. I went yesterday to do a few simple errands and found out how quickly our dear "Canada Post" is pricing itself right out of the market for shipping.
I purchased $8.00 worth of wool for a friend at our big wool sale this summer and promised to send it to her, It amounted to one large ball and six smaller balls, which as we all know, wool doesn't weight too much...but you would never have guessed that by the shipping cost.
To ship this small box ground mail ended up costing me $42.00 and had I shipped it the 7 day promised arrival time it would have cost me $97.00. Un-freaking-blah, blah, blah....anyway needless to say, my sweet friend has received her last parcel from me and Canada Post will never ever ship anything for me again.
It would have been cheaper for me to buy over the internet and pay the shipping charges...which is what I will do if I ever decide to ship anything again....can't buy it online, won't happen.
On a happier and less expensive note, I booked all my classes for the 2006 season and managed to get them set up for Mondays and Tuesdays, so I can have the rest of the week for accomplishing my own work.
The tearoom is gearing down for the season and we are now onlly open for private and group bookings. In other words, if you have a reservation, we are there, but no reservations that day, we don't open. I love this new arrangement and it will follow into the next year as well. We will open again in June, by reservation only, and are already taking bookings for the 2006 summer and fall seasons...booked our first two yesterday.
Well, must toddle off as I have the lawn cutter coming today and need to finish up a backlog of paperwork before he arrives.
Until tomorrow, Take care and have a wonderful day,
Trish.

Hello everyone,
I know it has been a while since I last posted a blog, but it seems this summer with its commitments, tearoom visitors, and guests from far away has occupied much of my time, and left little time to write a morning blog to share with all of you.
The tearoom is growing by leaps and jumps and I am finding myself entertaining many of the red hat ladies in all of their finery. I can tell you they are a wonderful bunch of ladies. Each is unique and special, but all are really quite friendly.
My painting is becoming popular as is our publishing house with many books sitting here for consideration, which in turn, has kept my reading committee very busy this summer.
Several books will enjoy a fall release and hopefully will be read and enjoyed by many. We have discovered some very talented authors hiding out in "Internet" land.
Today I have a website to complete for a local business man and then a baking order to fulfil before my day is out, so it is libel to be a long one for sure, so I will wish each of you a fabulous day and return to my work.
Until next time, take care and be well,
Trish.

In the bush - Molson Indy Toronto
07.11.05 (1:41 am) [edit]

Hi all,
Just had the most fantastic weekend away. Friday night we drove for three hours to my sister's trailer up north. Along the way we stopped in a few little shops and had a lovely picnic dinner.
That evening a bonfire was enjoyed. On Saturday we walked a 1 1/4 mile down the road and watched and laughed as the dog plunged in and out of the creek, then went out for a lovely luncheon at a tearoom in a little village named "Paisley". We spent the afternoon touring the small shops and that evening had a fantastic dinner in the town of Chatley. It was great. This we followed with a visit to the horseraces...anther fun time.
Sunday we rose early and drove into the Molson Indy race in Toronto. I can now honestly tell you to go to one, as they are nothing like what you see on TV, the rumble of the ground and the noise of the cars alone is something to experience, not to mention the other people, the festivities, and the day outside.
Oh yes, and I did remember my sunscreen, although another hour in the sun and this redhead would have enjoyed blisters, but thankfully that didn't happen, sunscreen or not, it seems I am a burner. LOL
Have a super day, Trish.

Looking Forward, Looking Back
07.03.05 (2:33 am) [edit]

2005 has been a most interesting year. Although things change they often stay the same, even when in fact they seem to swing full circle.
2005 has seen my artwork touring the world and being enjoyed. I have been painting and teaching now for almost two years straight and this is wonderful. I learn something new from my students each class...and they thought I was the teacher.
2005 has seen record sales of my books and they continue to be read and enjoyed. I am even working on the release of a new children's book through Little Blue Clipper Books.
2005 has seen the change of ownership at White Schooner Books and I now manage it and enjoy the aspect of the monthly paycheck.
2005 has seen a multitude of opportunities come my way with offers to travel and offers to expand in new directions, but the greatest thing about 2005 has been that I have reconnected with my father's family who was lost to me years ago, and by doing so I have discovered that my greatest need is just to be me and do whatever it is that makes me happy.
2005 has brought me great inspiration, and although I have not visited most of the writing sites I belong to, I have been busy writing - I am illustrating my first children's book to be released through Little Blue Clipper Books later this year. I am working on an Artisan's Handbook for release in September, and I am publishing several magazines and a newspaper, which as you might guess keeps me hopping.
My art this year is spread far and wide, and has shown up on the cover of magazines, on tea towels, on post cards and note cards. I am entering into the phase I call "the release" where most of my shows for this year are behind me and I only have a few left to paint that will be shipped overseas in the fall for Holland's and Italy's exhibitions.
And after all is said and done, my art has taken a surprising turn this year. The Studio has been renamed to the "Forget-Me-Not Shoppe" and I have re-opened the tearoom after discovering people wanting to tour my studio and purchase my art in several forms. The Forget-Me-Not Tearoom is now open from May 1st to September 30th - Monday to Friday and offers a large selection of my creative works for sale - art and writing. I have also received approval to have "Afternoon Teas in the Forget-Me-Not Gardens" and buses and groups are already booking.
Funny, but sales are looking really great and I didn't even have to leave home. All I really had to do was adjust the way I wish people to perceive what I do.
2005 has been a most interesting year. Although things change they often stay the same, even when in fact they seem to swing full circle.
So, it would seem my life is forever destine to travel on the winds of time and return to the comfort of home.
Strange how sometimes looking forward is not much different than looking back, isn't it?

Happy Canada Day
07.01.05 (1:11 am) [edit]
|
Good morning everyone,
It is Canada Day and although I have been away much of this week, I would be remiss if I didn't pop in and wish all the Canadians out there a Happy Canada Day.
On the same note, as I will be unavailable Monday, I will wish our American family Happy 4th of July.
It has been a hectic week this week, which is why you have not seen me here. I have the tea room approved by the board of health and ready, almost, to open on Monday morning. I have designed and printed menus, flyers, group menus, business cards for the tea room and publishing house, put out this week's newspaper, taken down an art show, put up an art show, and planted some flowers and hanging baskets - oh yes, and celebrated my 31 wedding anniversary.
I have missed my regular conversations with friends like Jim Corbin, Bianca Boonstra, Sandie Angel, and Carol Roach, but this week I will make amends. LOL - or at least attempt to.
Wish you the best of this holiday weekend.
Hugs, Trish

The Forget Me Not Shoppe
06.24.05 (4:15 am) [edit]

Good morning one and all....
Well, it is the start of a new day...a brand new day...and with it comes news from yours truly. This blog is undergoing some major changes for your entertainment and shopping pleasures....
The Forget-Me-Not Shoppe is home to Trish MacQueen's art studio and gallery, illustration and writing office, tearoom, and gift shoppe.
Each day, you will hear tall tales about the community, happenings in the tearoom, student blunders, and much much more...all aimed to entertain.
A couple times a week, you will also find a product description and link at the bottom of this blog, which will allow you to jump on over and purchase what is offer, but I advise you not to be slow, as our munchkins can only turn out so many...numbers are limited, so avoid disappointment and get there quick!
Oh yes, and don't expect me to drop by on weekends as I will be out taking pictures, collecting the local news, or partying with my grandbabies. So, with this said, I will say adieu until Monday, my sweets.
Take a spin in the park this weekend, as I hear the fresh air lightens your daily load and if that fails, stand and balance on one leg for 30 seconds - this is suppose to empty your head of all worries. In my case, I figure 10 seconds ought to be enough. LOL
Until Monday, have a good one...Trish.
